daigo clan
Story
A nomad clan, allegedly from the Land of Earth, that has been around since way before the Warring States Period. When Iwagakure was founded the clan decided to dissociate from the new established country and started roaming across the lands, building their life on a trade and hunt base.
Life & Society
The distinctive trait of this clan is its ability with the Ink Art, a technique that permits to give life to images by impressing the chakra into the ink and controll them at will. Before it become a nomad clan this technique was originally ment to be a form of social help: they used the animal illustrations to plough the lands, to tow wagons, as mounts and for many other tasks that requires physical jobs, leaving the actual animals as a source of supply. Afterwards this technique was turned in a much more defensive/warlike way in order to guarantee the clan survival through their travels from land to land. The main source of profit of the clan, aside the trade of the product they collect through their travels, is their Ink Art: while the technique only works if used by a member of the clan, many people in the past belived that somehow their tattoos could bring some sort of luck or work as a protective charm. These beliefs made the Daigo Ink Art Style famous in all the countries.Socially speaking they are very cheerful people and prone to socialization, mostly for economic returns. Famous in all countries are their traveling shows and their music for which many pays a lot to see. They don't have an aggressive nature and for any reason they won't get involve with outside's problems. The society has an egalitarian nature, there are no significant distinctions in terms of social classes except for the Tantō, an elitarian group whose only difference consist in their genetic predisposition to develop the Kekkei Genkai, and so to bear much more responsibilities than the rest of the clan. The Leaders are elected democratically among all the clan members, both regular ones and Tantō.The marriage is strictly allowed only between clan members. In case of a birth outside the clan the child remain with clan, while the outsider is left out of it.
Clan Structure In & Out
The outside structure of the clan is based on caravans: Chūshin (represented by the Tiger symbol) is the main and the biggest group and when moving is always at the center of the convoy. This is the Caravan of the Leaders and the Daihyō, the God's vessels, and where all the pre-schoolers and the Apprentices are. All around, at a distance of few km from it, 6 smaller groups surrounds it, forming a circle of Sentinel Caravans. Like the main group each one is distinguished by a symbol and they function like actual districts: Hinode (fox), Engo (lion), Karakichi (three-legged crow), Saburo (turtle), Tenshu (dragon) and Hakujya (white snake).
The clan doesn't have a team-based training system like many other villages and the education of the youngest is taught collectively inside the main caravan group; once they reach the adult age (20 y.o) each member is assigned to a Sentinel Caravans Group, to which they'll belong for the rest of their lives. Of course, any contact with other Sentinels or with the main caravans remain possible and, despite being an uncommon event, it happens that in case of marriage between different groups members one of the partners is allowed to move from a group to the other. In most of the cases tho, relationships develops inside the caravan of belonging. When a newborn arrives is transfer with the mother back to the main caravans. The mother will stay with the child until the reach of the training age, then she returns to her caravans group. The child will remains with the main caravan untill his come of age. The educators from different Caravans have the choice of moving from their Sentinel Caravans Group to the Main one, or to remain in their own group and travel between the two.
For safety reasons every travel outside the clan's convoy is always done with the escort of a partner: no one must be left alone while outside the clan.
Law & Punishments
The only existing law is the Clan's Defense and Preservation Law: no actions, that actively or passively are perpetrated against the safety of the clan and its members, will be tollerated and left unpunished. The Clan existence revolve around each member's mutual trust and support, and very rarely crimes are committed, but depending by their type the possible punishments are three: theft and deliberate harm to other members are sentenced with mutilation; murder and attempted murder are punished with the capital punishment; snitch acts for outsourcers, perform tattoo on outsiders without authorization and disrespectful acts against the Clan's Gods or Leaders are punished with the exhile and their tatto(s) cover with a scar; The clan's Judical and Executive Authority is represented by three distincted figures:The Judges, in charge of judging and declaring the guilt or the innocence of the clan members when a crime is committed; The Punishers, those who execute the death penalty and the only ones authorized to take another clan member's life;Monks, whose duty is to seal the chakra of an exhile condemned so he/she cannot perform the Ink Art outside the clan.
The Clan's Deity: Sōjōshin
The Sōjōshin (譲歩神 - mutual concession God) are the God the Clan worship. They are reffered to both as a single and multiple entities, and is described as the communion of two fundamental principles: Give and Take.
It manifests their powers through the Daihyō, the vessels chosen to host It's spiritual being:- The God of Taking's vessel is decided before it's birth, the newborn takes away all the chakra from the mother during the gestation and add it to it's own, leaving her permanently without chakra.- The Goddess of Giving's vessel is chosen likewise but upon the sacrifice of the mother herself, who decide voluntarily to give away her own chakra in behalf of the baby. This process do not always guarantee the baby will become a vessel and it certainly won't work out of a pure egoistic desire. These vessels are randomly picked, with no distinction between blood and they may appear either in multiple subjects or none at all. They can be recognized by looking at their eye, one of each turns black with a crimson pupil.
